Best Place To Stay
The Brown County Inn has been a mainstay in scenic Brown, Indiana since it opened in 1974. The 65,000 square foot hotel, restaurant, and bar became a gathering place for visitors and local families alike. They would enjoy playing tennis and miniature golf in the sprawling yard or swim in the large indoor/outdoor pool. Over the years, the hotel housed Indy 500 sponsors and country music celebrities. In 1975, a banquet hall, known as “Town Hall”, was added and became a place for weddings, family reunions, and business meetings, as well as an annual New Year’s Eve party.
2016 Renovations
Time and various economic setbacks led to the eventual decline of the inn. Although it survived many hardships and a dedicated staff kept it in operation, it became dated and in need of repairs and renovation. In May of 2015, the Brown County Inn was sold to its current owners and a top to bottom renovation was begun. The exterior was painted and the roof repairs completed. Landscaping, including transforming the former tennis courts into a wedding venue, adding edible gardens and a children’s garden, was begun. New equipment was purchased for the pool and it was painted. Town Hall and the restaurant were given new flooring, paint, and lighting. All 99 rooms at the inn are in the process of a complete restoration including all new furniture, paint, carpet and linens.
Enjoy Brown County
Many of the changes were made with the environment in mind. More energy efficient heating and cooling systems replaced old ones and “on demand” hot water heaters were installed. The menu in the restaurant has changed to include more house made items and locally sourced ingredients.
Work on the inn will continue through the summer of 2016 and probably beyond. The goal is to make the Brown County Inn a place where families who are visiting can have a wonderful time, groups of people can enjoy themselves for meetings, and the community can benefit for years to come.
